Common Gucci Repair Questions

Q1.  I "know" that my Gucci watch only needs a battery.  Can you just change my battery? 

NO, we don't do "battery swaps."  Properly opening and closing a Gucci watch requires special tools and training.  The gaskets HAVE to be replaced.  The watch HAS to be pressure tested.  The movement has to be tested, and 75% of the time it also has to be cleaned and/or replaced for it to operate properly.  This is called "complete service."  This is what we do.  We do not do "simple battery changes."  Please do not call to ask this question.

Q2.  I "know" that my Gucci watch only needs a bracelet repair (or bracelet part or clasp or link).  Can you just fix my broken bracelet? 

NO, we don't do "short jobs."  We can repair and/or replace your broken clasp or bracelet, but only as a function of complete service.  So if there is "nothing else wrong with your watch besides the broken bracelet or clasp," please look somewhere else for a repair.  Please do not call to ask this question.

Q3.  The "G" logo (or some other external part with a "G" logo on it) fell off my watch and I lost it.  Can you replace it? 

NO, unless you still have the logo, the watch will have to be sent to Gucci for an expensive replacement of the entire watch case.  This is Gucci's requirement for this type of repair, and we are NOT in control of this, and can do nothing about it.  Our apologies.  Please do not call to ask this question.

Q4.  The caseback (the back of the watch) fell off and I lost it.  Can you replace it? 

NO, unless you still have the caseback, the watch will have to be sent to Gucci for an expensive replacement of the caseback.  This is Gucci's requirement for this type of repair, and we are NOT in control of this, and can do nothing about it.  Our apologies.  Please do not call to ask this question.

Q5.  I am jeweler, or work for a jewelry store, and your repair prices are too high.  I know you are just "up selling" your repairs.  Can you please quote me a lower repair price or just "change the battery?" 

NO, there are many reasons that we will NOT do work for most jewelers or anyone working for a jewelry store.  There are also many reasons that an ever-increasing number of independent watchmakers REFUSE to work for jewelers. 

Q6.  Why is your estimate fee on Gucci watches $60?  And why does your quartz service repair price start at $140? 

95% of the Gucci watches we see have been damaged by:

  • A unique combination of owner "abuse" (not having the watch properly and regularly serviced);
  • The owner wearing their 'dress' watch in the shower, bathing the dog, in a hot sauna, etc. (and water getting inside the watch, staining the dial and hands and ruining the movement);
  • "Jewelry store/shopping-mall botching" (unskilled foreign nationals pretending to be 'watchmakers'). 

We charge more because we actually repair the watch.  What a concept!  We charge $60 to estimate Gucci watches because they arrive dirty, abused, broken, and/or "sabotaged" by the well-meaning, do-it-yourself owner and/or moron "watchmakers" at the fix-it-fast mall stores.  There is also no shortage of individuals who know the quality of our work, and would rather have their watch properly repaired than purchase a new Gucci watch.
